Fayoum artifacts and fossils represent

the most important local COLLECTION in the world,

for Agriculture history, Archeology history, Art history, Folk Village, and Natural History,[ partly because it’s in Egypt, and partly because the dry climate has preserved so much]

There will also be a ‘forward-looking’ Science and Technology museum in the 3rd Phase of construction.

The Museum complex is located in Fayoum governate, on one square kilometer of land. It is north of Kom Osheim and Arabian Nights, about 30 minutes drive for visitors from Giza pyramids and Museum; so intended to draw most visitors from Cairo.

The 1st Phase of construction is a 5,000 square meter, 2 level building, for ‘General’ exhibit of local artifacts and fossils.

Later Phases of construction will house exhibits specialized by subject and chronology.

The first Phase is intended to be stand alone (self-financing) and

raise awareness and funds for the next Phases.

When complete, the Museum complex will add to Giza and Luxor as an attraction/destination, and be the only one of its kind south of Washington/London/Shanghai

Each stage of construction is intended to maximize ‘return on investment’ with stand-alone attractions.

Fayoum artifacts and fossils represent that most important local collection in the world, for Agriculture history, Archeology history, Art history, Folk Village, and Natural History.

So there is a large cultural heritage component to the project, in additional to standard educational ones.

The university component of the project intends to include research. The project aims to repatriate artifacts and fossils, to the extent that the published research of affiliated professors would give a world-class rank to the affiliated university.

The project manager/Ministry will not begin to repatriate artifacts, until the state-of-the-art museum is complete

Fayoum history is the best in world. The Museum could be 1st in Africa, Middle East, South Asia, Latin America; i.e., ‘south of G7’, with Repatriation, of artifacts and fossils, whereby Fayoum has the largest collection of local fossils and artifacts, in natural history, agriculture, art/Fayoum portraits, and folk village/pottery/mummies/papyri, and archeology/pyramids/waterwheels/ crocodile, etc., in the world

2 Cluster. Maximize tourist visits of culture/history, via CLUSTER economics and HUB transportation.

The Museum is intended to attract a maximum number of visitors. In addition to doing so with its great displays, the size of the Museum and its location are of prime consideration.

Thus, the land for the Museum project is located in Fayoum governate, but close enough to Cairo (a 40 minute drive), for ‘National’ museums to be built there. It can be located on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road, along the area beginning 1 kilometer north of Arabian Nights, and ending 1 kilometer south of the Fayoum-Giza governate border.

3 Hub  Tours, 12 planned, listed in hotel lobby

Also the goal of a hotel for university groups doing field research, and for TOURISM tourists taking any of 12 local day-tours, or visiting the museum complex]

4 HIGHER EDUCATION goal of university research and foreign professors teaching summer classes University world ranked, based on primary research of artifacts, and foreign university professors being listed as affiliates of the local university. research institutes, library

5 Near high tourist traffic, by being close to Cairo, Giza pyramids, Dream Park, Ring Road.

6 Educational, school trips, interactive, inspirational,

7 Cultural heritage, history, inspirational

8 Another place in Egypt of the tourist map, for tourists to stay longer, spend more money, and also another reason to come to Egypt

9 Reconstruction of archeological sites; e.g., Hawara ‘labyrinth’, ‘greatest wonder of ancient world’, via public awareness ‘friends of _____’ organizations, based at the museum

10 Local community, cultural heritage,

11 Local community jobs,

12 Local community family weekend outings

13 Feasibility, Return On Investment, build in ‘stand alone’ (Self-contained and usually independently operating) stages.

Also, it will be ‘stand alone’, self-financing (gift shop)

Each stage of construction is intended to maximize ‘return on investment’ with stand-alone attractions.

14 raise awareness and funds for the next Phases

Phase One of the project can be said to be complete, with Exhibits opened by the Governor at Kasr Sakafa, and at the University by its President, with a Facebook page (with 1,000’s of ‘likes’) and a Website, and gaining technical approval for the land.
Phase One

• Exhibit at Fayoum Culture Palace, with assistance of Art Director Mr. Shams, grand opening by the Governor of Fayoum.
• Exhibit at Fayoum University, with assistance of Dr. Atef Abdel Dayem, Director of the Fayoum Heritage Center institute. grand opening by the President of Fayoum University.
• Facebook page, with over 100 posts and over 1,000 ‘likes’
• Website, with domain name and built page.
• Completed process for applying for land, with engineers and land registry. I was shown a letter by the engineers at the Land section of the Government in the Fayoum branch, stating that the Legal, Military, Agriculture, Archeology, Environment, Stable land, and Free/unclaimed land criteria were approved by the 1st Committee.
